It sounds like a cliché, but for Joy Benning no two days are the same. On behalf of her clients, she can be found taking calls, writing copy for consumer and producer audiences alike, team brainstorming, working with creatives, planning and executing events – combining attention to detail, tireless tenacity and a big dose of inborn Iowa Nice. She comes by it honestly: Raised in northeast Iowa, she earned a journalism degree from Iowa State University before joining the MM office in Waterloo. Joy is a NAMA member and serves on her chapter board of the American Advertising Federation. When she’s not building, promoting and protecting great brands that help feed the world, she enjoys “anything outdoors”: biking, running, kayaking, hiking or camping.

WHAT MOVES ME?

Experiences, and what comes from them. Being challenged drives me; learning something new, adding knowledge to my repertoire and ultimately gaining wisdom and discernment that I can apply to the role of wife, friend, sister, daughter and employee in order to be my best “self” possible.

  • Volunteer/passion projects I love to work on outside of work include volunteering at our local food bank and working with hunger relief organizations.
  • The most inspiring part of my job is getting to work with and learn from smart, creative and passionate people.
